lifestyle favorites july 2017

Yet again I have gathered for you some of my recent lifestyle favorites 🙂 I’m not doing these every month, because I like to wait until I have gathered up quite a few things to write about! Spring and summer months are always hectic so there is always less time to lounge around when we have such a gorgeous weather outside! Up ahead we have stuff to watch, listen to, read and get for your home 😉 Enjoy!

Movie – Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2

From the movie department what I would like to recommend for you to watch are Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2 (and vol 1 if you haven’t watched it yet!). I watched the first part this year and I really, really liked it so the moment the second installment hit the theaters I know I had to go see it! I really enjoyed the humor in the first movie, but the second one had me rolling on the floor dying of laughter. It’s THAT good. I love the characters in the movie, they’re like a dysfunctional family, outcasts and criminals that are forced to come together to save the galaxy. They behave like total assholes towards each other, but deep down they know they’ll always have each other’s backs. And let’s talk about the music. It fits it so well, and is so unique – we’ve got goodies from 70s and 80s and to this day I can’t stop listening to the mix tape! Definitely go watch it if you have a chance!

Book – Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys

The book tells the story of Lina, a young Lithuanian girl who is deported with her mother and brother to a labor camp in Siberia. It’s a really tough book to read, very beautifully written, but it tackles a really terrifying and heartbreaking topic of Stalinist repressions. Lina is very young and does not understand what is happening, why she is being deported. She is forced to quickly grow up and discover that the world is not all black and white. The book makes you realize how the repressions looked like and gives a lot to think about – how these people we treated, what they had to go though. The book is based on stories told to the author by actual survivors of the repressions, which makes it even more distressing. You cannot put it down, you feel what the characters are going through, you are as terrified as them what will happen next. It’s the kind of story that sticks with you and makes you think and reflect on it. Labor camps and repressions is not a topic you often hear about, or even if you do you do not fully realize its horror. Really recommend it, it’s a tough read, will make you cry a lot, but it is truly fantastically written.

hand soaps bath & body works

Home – hand soap from Bath and Body Works

I have so much love for Bath & Body Works’ hand soaps! They smell so heavenly and are really efficient in use. I wandered into the store during a sale and so I grabbed three of them. I chose Lemon Buttercream, Sunlight & Apple Trees and Peach Bellini. They cleanse your hands really well and the smell that lingers is just so fantastic! When you use them pretty much the whole bathroom smells of them. For me no other hand soap can beat these! You can also choose what form you want it in – deep cleansing and exfoliating or foaming.

Some tunes I’ve been loving recently!

Tv Show – Big Little Lies

Big Little Lies is a miniseries that is based on a book written by Liane Moriarty. The cast is really good and was one of the main reasons I just had to watch it – Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Alexander Skarsgård. It focuses on three mothers whose children have just started school. Then there is a murder. During each episode we find out that lives of these families are not as perfect as they seem – there are lies, prejudices, conflicts, fighting personal demons. Once you start watching the first episode, it sucks you in and you cannot stop, it’s so good!
